customizing your favicon

today i want to show you guys how to add your own personal favicon to your blog. it's so easy you will want to die.. seriously.

okay, what is a favicon? for those that aren't familiar with what a favicon is, it's the image that pops up on the tab with every website. blogger has it's own default icon, but you can personalize your own and upload it to your blog. yay!

first, you need a favicon. if you don't already have one designed, do that before starting. if you don't have photoshop, you can always go with picmonkey or gimp as free alternatives to design it. the ideal favicon size is always square and 16x16, so keep that in mind when sizing it. you won't be able to upload anything bigger than 100kb.

once you've got your little guy saved somewhere safe, it's time to upload! go to your blogger layout and find the gadget that is labeled FAVICON and click edit.

once your configure window is open you'll see where you can choose a file to upload. this is where you will upload your personalized favicon. 

now it should look like this (except with your own icon) once it's done uploading. hit SAVE and you're done! sometimes it takes a day or two for it to show up on your tab or bookmark, but it will. promise.

so easy, right?!
