Our Christmas.

This was our first Christmas staying HOME and having Christmas morning with just us.
Obviously afterwards we had to travel and see the rest of our family... Someday I'll make them all come to us.

We spent Christmas night with Tyler's family & while everyone was relaxing I was in the kitchen stuffing my face with the best eclairs you'll ever eat. Drool..slurp..drooool...breath heavily...

Then we went to a Christmas party at my grandma's on my dads side. Again, stuffed my face.

THEN made it to my moms where I got to visit with my sisters before they headed back to LA. :-(
We met up with some friends from college.
Spent a morning riding in a one horse open sleigh.

Tyler & I got what we asked for from Santa. Yay!
Dreydan was spoiled by everyone.

That was our Christmas.

Smells like cinnamon in here.

After getting home from our Thanksgiving break, we picked out a tree & decorated our home!
We have a teeny tiny apartment & not much space for regular size tree, so we settled for a mini.
Dreydan loves everything about it...
...the lights HAVE to be on all day & we HAVE to make sure it has enough water.
He's the best.
The {homemade} advent calendar from his great grandma is a huge hit!
He reminds me every morning that it's time to put another ornament on the tree.

So that's our festive home.
You're welcome.

To the Plantations! {part 2}

The day after ole Myrtle's, we drove down River Road.
It's just like it sounds, a road on the river. Yup.
You actually can't see the river from the road anymore.
They built a levee... I KNOW.
It's safer for the homes and shit, obvi, but ughhhh. I wanted to see the steamboats from my car.
How am I supposed to pretend it's "wayyy back then" when the views aren't the same?!

Anyways. Our second tour was of the Evergreen Plantation.
Again, no pics allowed inside the house. FML.
These slave cabins were my favorite!!!
22 original cabins are still standing. The history!

Oh! Ever seen Django? That's the house! And those cotton fields in the movie in front of the house?
Fake. Cotton balls glued onto sticks. True story.

Coming up next, The Laura Plantation.
I could take pictures inside this next one, yessss!

To the Plantations! {part 1}

While on my road trip, we drove through Louisiana and made stops along the River Road &
toured Plantation homes. Heeaaaven!
Don't let Swamp People scare you, Louisiana is beautiful!
My sister & I loved it.

We toured 3 different homes & then did a drive by of one & snapped illegal pics from the shoulder... oopsie.

First stop was Myrtles Plantation.
This one was actually not on River Road
{mama, drey, nephew caden, sister}

I wasn't allowed to take pics inside except of the mirror, because it was haunted. Gay.
But it was UH-MAZING inside. They had 1 room that was always kept locked because
everything inside of it was original to the house. Ahhhhh, it was awesome.
What an extravagant life.

That's all! Stay tuned for Part 2, beotches.

A Happy Thanksgiving.

All my mom wanted for Thanksgiving this year was to stay home, cook, & watch football.
She didn't want to go to 9 different family get together's & get home to an empty house.
So we came to her!

Every year Tyler wants a fried Turkey, at some point.
He injects it with some sort of homemade concoction & puts that
baby in the fryer. It's delicious.
While my mom & I were taking care of the rest of  the food, the boys fried the turkey.

Dinner was delish.
Dessert even delish-isher.
Cowboys won!

I didn't go Black Friday shopping this year. Boooo.
My mom & I hit up Wal-Mart about 7ish just to see the craziness.
It was craziness. SHIT.SHOW. Like always.

The day after Thanksgiving, I helped my mama set up Christmas.
She doesn't do Christmas decor until AFTER Thanksgiving. She just won't.
She's not about that life.

That's all.
I hope everyone had the bestest Thanksgiving Holiday.
I sure did.
